6 tips to feng shui your home

Whether you’ve been living in your home for quite some time, or whether you’ve just purchased a luxury townhouse, the ancient Chinese practice of Feng Shui brings everything into harmony in a space.

Feng Shui exercises aren’t difficult to do and simple, little changes often make a big difference. The following are some tips that will likely make your home feel more positive and light:

  1. If it squeaks, fix it
If any of your doors squeak when they’re opened or closed, fix them. Having a “crying” door can affect a person’s well-being and mood. If your doors have been sounding off for a long while, chances are you may not even be aware of the noise. Simply oiling the hinges will help better your mood when you enter or leave the space.
  2. The front door is best to use
Using a side or back door might be convenient, but it’s not the best way to enter and leave your home according to the principles of Feng Shui. Use that gorgeous front door of your luxury townhouse! A door is representative of how energy comes into your home and life. If you use the front door at least once a week, it will create a healthy flow of energy.
  3. A fabulous fountain
In Feng Shui, water represents wealth. So, not only is incorporating a small fountain into your decor a good idea, but it should be located near or in the entryway to your home. Make sure the water is flowing toward and not away from your house. Money will then come pouring into your life!
  4. Let plants live atop the cupboards
If there is a space between the tops of your kitchen cabinets and the ceiling, that is the perfect place for plant life. This is where stuck energy (which, according to Feng Shui, is energy that holds you back from accomplishments) and dust collect. Having something growing and green in this space will transform the feeling of the space entirely.
  5. Close the bathroom door
If you don’t want your money being flushed away, close the bathroom door and make sure to keep the toilet lid closed.
  6. Put your bed in a commanding position
For your bed to be in the best or commanding position, you should face the door but not be totally in line with it. If you can’t do that, use a mirror to see the door while you’re in bed.
